The Preparation

  1. Gather the ingredients. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease an 8-inch square baking pan with butter and line it with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on the sides for easy removal.

  1. In a mixing bowl, stir in the 250 g rolled oats and 1/4 tsp salt.

    Chef's Tip : The Brits use golden syrup instead of honey for the traditional, authentic caramel flavor! However, I chose honey for this recipe because it is a wonderfully natural, less processed sweetener that is easier to find at the local grocery store, and it gives the flapjacks a delicious floral sweetness.

The Serving

  1. Remove from the oven and let cool in the dish for 10 minutes. While still warm, use a sharp knife to score the flapjacks into 12 bars. Allow them to cool completely in the tin before removing.
